A small evergreen tree with fruits that is a flattened globoid and the peel colour varies from yellow to deep orange-red when ripe. The essential oil is obtained via cold expression of the fruit rind.
Therapeutic benefits:
- Children's remedy : used to relieve tummy upsets of babies and children. Great to soothe restlessness especially in hyperactive children.
- Digestive system : has a tonic effect on the digestive system, helping to regulate metabolic processes and it aids the secretion of bile and breaking down of fats. Beneficial for calming the intestines and relieving flatulence.
- Pregnancy : recommended in a massage blend with lavender and neroli to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. To be effective, the massage oil should be used daily from about the fifith month of pregnancy.
- Skin care : recommended for acne, congested and oily skin.
How to use:
For massage : Mix 3 to 4 drops of essential oils with 3 tablespoonful of carrier oil.
For bath : Drip about 6 to 8 drops of essential oils into bathtub filled with warm water and add 2 tablespoonful of carrier oil.
For vaporisation : Add 6 to 8 drops of essential oils into a tea-light candle burner or electric burner. For tea-light candle burner, do add water.
